Hey, friends 👋 Do you know what to do with your leftover ground beef? Are you on a tight budget? If so, you must make this burger. This perfectly seasoned juicy ground beef burger topped with a sunny-side up will definitely make your day.

The burger would only cost you NT$49.5 ($1.73), and you could prevent food waste and save your money.

It's also extremely simple. Just throw your ingredients on a pan, fry an egg, assemble your burger, and you can enjoy your perfect late-night snack.

This is probably one of the most delicious burgers that I've ever made in my life. The secret ingredient? Soy sauce.

Also, this burger is much cheaper than restaurant-quality burgers, which cost at least NT$200 ($7.01).

Is this a late-night snack or a meal?

Well, it depends on you. I ate it as a late-night snack because I was starving back then. However, you can make it your dinner as the portions are relatively huge.

What type of ground beef should I use?

As a rule for burgers, use ground beef that is 80% lean and 20% fat. To make juicy burgers, you need the fat in the meat.

The Secret Ingredient - Soy Sauce

Soy sauce contributes to a bit of saltiness and sweetness. It balances the flavors of the beef and the cheese pretty well. Use it as a replacement of salt and sugar and add an Asian touch to the burger (although I still put some salt in it).

Step-by-Step Process (With Photos and Tips)

Here are the ingredients.

Throw the onions and carrots in.

Put the beef and cheese in once the onions are crispy. (or look crispy)

Simmer it for a while, and set it aside.

Assemble your burger!

Steps

  2. Throw in the ground beef, cheese (shredded), and soy sauce once the onions are crispy. Season it with some salt and black pepper. Set aside and put a piece of cheddar cheese on it when you are done.

  3. *Fry the egg with the remaining ground beef fat.

  4. Toast the bun. Place the lettuce, beef and cheese, and the egg gently on the bun. Cover it with another bun. DON'T WASTE ANYTHING, AND ENJOY!

Tips & Notes:

  1. When you add the egg, don't move it and cover it with the lid. Wait for a while, and turn off the stove when the egg is still a bit raw. Let the remaining heat cook the egg so you won't overcook it.
