Hey, friends 👋. We are going to begin our street food series, in which we discover cheap food worth seeking out around Taipei. Sushi Bar (壽司爸), located near MRT Liuzhangli (六張犁) station, is a small restaurant that specializes in sushi and donburi.
This restaurant is pretty popular, so you have to get there early. There are only two shifts and they only serve about 20 guests per shift. They don’t accept anymore guests afterward.
The sashimi is extremely fresh, thick, and tender. The sashimi completely covers the rice, so expect to eat tons of fish. The vinegar rice is made of black rice, which complements the rice pretty well. The rice is not as sticky as white rice and balances the umami of the soy sauce with its acidity. This dish is definitely worth a try. It’s a bargain that only costs NT$190.

The roasted salmon fillet is superb. Five huge pieces of medium-rare salmon are stacked on the perfectly cooked vinegar rice and topped with some scallions and seaweed. The salmon is so tender that it literally melts in your mouth. The rice balances the greasiness of the salmon and you can taste the freshness of the ocean. You can also taste the scent of charcoal in the half-cooked salmon. We will definitely revisit this fantastic restaurant!
The small portions are a bit small, though, but it’s still a perfect dining experience.
If you crave some mid-priced sushi, this is definitely the place that you should visit!
